Swim, bike and run sessions in one calendar, lane limits at the pool, a race season everyone can plan around – and a heads-up that reaches everyone when the pool closes.
In short
Klubraum is a group app from Germany that triathlon clubs and tri teams use to organize training and racing: swim, bike, run and strength each get their own Area with their own conversations and events; every session is a recurring event with Yes, No or Maybe RSVPs, a participant limit that matches the lanes you have and an automatic waiting list; races, relays and training camps go in the shared calendar, with carpools to the start offered right on the event; and a timeline for announcements, polls and a member directory round it off – in one app for iOS, Android, macOS and the web. Klubraum works alongside TrainingPeaks and Strava: TrainingPeaks plans the training, Strava records it, Klubraum organizes the group. Klubraum comes from triathlon itself: triathlete Steffen Haak started it in 2018 to organize his own club. Member data is stored on servers in Frankfurt, Germany, the app is ad-free, and the free plan with all core features stays free – more than 10,000 clubs, groups and organizations with over 300,000 members use it.
Three disciplines, pool lanes, a race calendar and a long drive to every start. Eight situations every tri club knows, and how they look in Klubraum.
Swim squad, bike group, run group and strength class: in Klubraum each discipline gets its own Area, with its own conversations, events and notifications. Swimmers get the pool updates, cyclists get the ride plans, and the people who do everything see all of it. Areas and members are unlimited, on the free plan too.
The pool gives you four lanes, twenty people want to swim and fourteen fit. Set the session's participant limit to the lane capacity; members answer Yes, No or Maybe, and anyone beyond the limit goes onto the waiting list and moves up automatically as soon as someone drops out. Plus adds RSVP deadlines and binding sign-ups, handy when the coach needs numbers the evening before.
Tuesday swim, Wednesday track session, Thursday swim again, Saturday long ride, Sunday brick: create each session once as a recurring event, with time, place and description. Members see their week in the shared calendar and can subscribe to it in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. Attach the session plan or the route as a file right on the event.
Pool closed for maintenance, track booked for a school meet, thunderstorms over the ride route: cancel the session, and everyone who signed up gets a push notification and a timeline entry, while the session stays in the calendar marked as canceled. Read receipts show how many people have seen it; with Plus, you also see who.
Put the season's races in the shared calendar: the local sprint, the league round, the relay, the big middle-distance race. Members RSVP to each race, so everyone can see who's starting where, and a poll settles who swims, bikes and runs in the relay team. Race entries go through the organizer as usual; Klubraum shows the team who's in.
Race day means an early start, a bike, a wetsuit and a transition bag. On the race event, a driver offers a carpool with date, time, starting point, a note and the number of free seats. Anyone who wants a seat taps "Join" and is on the list; the driver is notified of every booking and every cancellation.
The spring training camp runs over several days, so it's a multi-day event in Klubraum. A poll settles the destination and dates, the RSVP list shows who's coming, and a conversation in your Klubraum keeps packing lists, room sharing and ride plans in one place.
Someone wants to try their first open-water swim, the junior squad trains on Saturdays: newcomers join with a link or QR code and pick the Areas that fit them, juniors get an Area of their own, and parents sign their kids up right on the session. Joining takes only an email address, a join link or a QR code.
Many triathletes already use a training platform and a tracking app, and the two work well together: each answers a different question. Klubraum takes care of everything the group needs to organize around the training, right alongside TrainingPeaks and Strava.
TrainingPeaks (USA) is a training platform for endurance athletes and coaches: structured workouts, training plans and performance metrics, synced with watches and bike computers.
Strava (Strava, Inc., San Francisco) records and analyzes workouts across sports. Clubs on Strava have a feed, a weekly leaderboard, club posts and club events.
Klubraum organizes everything around the training – and everything off the course as well: board meetings, the jersey order, the annual meeting, the end-of-season party.
It's a both-and decision. Groups that use Klubraum keep planning in TrainingPeaks and logging on Strava. Klubraum takes over from the WhatsApp groups, the pool-slot spreadsheet and the email chain before every race.
An honest comparison has rows where TrainingPeaks, Strava or simply the WhatsApp group come out ahead. They're all in the table.

Sessions and events with RSVPs, participant limits and automatic waiting lists, disciplines and training groups as separate Areas, races and camps in a shared calendar, announcements in the timeline, polls, carpools to races, a member directory that members keep up to date themselves, and the digital membership card. All of it is included in the free plan.
Training plans, structured workouts, recording and analysis, power and heart-rate data belong to TrainingPeaks, Strava and the apps of your watches and bike computers. Klubraum takes care of the layer above: who trains when, where and with whom, who has signed up, who's racing and who needs a ride.
Dues, accounting, race entries and your official membership records stay in the tools you use for them today; Klubraum adds communication and events. The member directory in Klubraum is a contact list that each member maintains for themselves. Your athletes' training apps carry on exactly as before.
A triathlon club needs an app that keeps three disciplines apart and still runs on one calendar. In Klubraum, swim, bike, run and strength each get their own Area with their own conversations and events, every session is a recurring event with RSVPs, and lane limits with an automatic waiting list keep the pool workable. Races and camps sit in the same calendar, with carpools on the event. Training plans stay in TrainingPeaks, workout logs on Strava. The free plan stays free and is ad-free, with unlimited members and Areas.
One where each session is an event people sign up for. In Klubraum you create Tuesday's swim, Wednesday's track session and Saturday's long ride once as recurring events; members answer Yes, No or Maybe and see their whole week in the shared calendar, which they can also subscribe to in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. Each discipline gets its own Area, so swimmers get the pool updates and cyclists get the ride plans.
Give the swim session a participant limit that matches your lanes. In Klubraum, members answer Yes, No or Maybe; once the limit is reached, further sign-ups go onto a waiting list and move up automatically, with a push notification, as soon as someone drops out. The coach sees the numbers in advance. Participant limits and waiting lists are on the free plan; Plus adds RSVP deadlines and binding sign-ups.
With one Area per group. In Klubraum, the swim squad, the bike group, the run group, the beginners and the juniors can each have their own Area with their own events, conversations and notifications. Areas can be public or private, members can be in as many as they like, and you choose for each event which Areas can see it. Areas and members are unlimited.
Put each race in the shared calendar as an event and let members RSVP, so the whole team sees who's starting where. A poll settles relay line-ups or which race becomes the club race of the year, and carpools to the start go right on the event. Entries themselves go through the race organizer as usual; Klubraum keeps track of who's in and how everyone gets there.
Right on the race event. In Klubraum, open the race, tap the car symbol and create a carpool under "Add offer", with date, time, location, a note and the number of free seats. Anyone who wants a seat taps "Join" and is on the list; a second tap removes them again. The driver is notified of every booking and cancellation, and children can be added too.
Klubraum is built to run alongside both. TrainingPeaks plans and analyzes each athlete's training, Strava records the workouts. Klubraum organizes the group around them: which session runs when and where, who's coming, who is on the waiting list for the pool, who's racing which event and who's driving whom. What Klubraum takes over is the WhatsApp groups, the pool-slot spreadsheet and the email chain before every race.
Klubraum's free plan stays free – with the calendar and RSVPs, participant limits and waiting lists, Areas, the timeline, polls, carpools and unlimited members, all ad-free. If you want more customization and control, add Plus or Pro; for non-profit clubs, Plus currently starts at €1.80 per user per year, invoiced monthly and cancelable at any time. TrainingPeaks and Strava each have a free tier and a paid subscription.
